About me
Welcome to my "About Me" page! My journey into the world of couture started at the ArtEZ Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem, where I graduated with honors and won the Smirnoff Award. This led me to Paris, where I worked for prestigious brands such as Kenzo, Barbara Bui and M&F Girbaud for 16 years. My experience in luxury ateliers and collaborations with international brands & manufacturers has allowed me to build up a lot of knowledge about fabrics, prints, collections and design.
I started my own fashion brand from Paris, sold to luxury fashion stores but decided to change course after a few years. Besides designing for multiple fashion brands, I started my own couture studio in Amsterdam and learned digital pattern drawing. Thanks to 3D scanning technology, I make a perfectly fitting garment. I get a lot of satisfaction from making my customers shine and giving them an 'edgy' but timeless style.
Yoga plays a crucial role in my life and is the basis of my pursuit of balance. I have chosen to stop with collections, because I get more satisfaction from personal contact and authentic experiences. Walking in nature gives me a deep sense of happiness, and it is my mission to convey the value of nature to my customers with my designs. In doing so, natural lines inspire me to make a body look its best!
CRAFT
"Craft is an essential element in my work: every piece of clothing is made with the greatest care in my own studio. I broonion all design and production techniques that I was able to learn in the Parisian workshops. My clothing is designed on the interface of Nature, Architecture and Texture. The combination of my design and pattern drawing skills allows me to quickly develop ingenious models.
Hand painting, embroidery and couture techniques…it is all possible to create something special and unique for you!
At the moment I am expanding my technique to 3D pattern design. It is already possible to scan your measurements via an app, even remotely. This way I can enter your measurements into my pattern drawing system for a perfect fit.
I'm also working on shaping my designs on an avatar so you can also see how something looks on you before I execute it. Please be patient, but I'll keep you posted."
INSPIRED BY NATURE

"My lines and choice of fabric are inspired by nature. For example, I print fabricswith real leaves and the shape of the garment is constructed as a leaf.

This example is a bit theatrical, but there are plenty of very wearable examples in my collection. Thanks to the mix of materials such as knitwear, used leather and sustainable fabrics, my designs get a rich layering that can also be found in nature."
INCLUSIVE AND SOCIAL

"Most of my team has an international background. Born Amsterdammers work together with new Dutche tailors from Syria, Ivory Coast, India and South Africa. This inclusive, warm and multicultural atmosphere enhances the beauty of our creations. Each garment is made with respect for each other and our customers."

I also train young tailors through a learning process that used to be done in guilds. Each student receives an individual approach and own degree of difficulty in terms of the implementation of the designs."
DURABLE

"The fabrics and knits are chosen with care for quality and durability. We believe in 'Slow Fashion' and only produce what is necessary.
I have special fabrics developed by Italian and French manufacturers, and I buy beautiful leftover fabric lots from other fashion brands I used tobefore worked as a designer; the so-called 'dead stock' principle.
I also make jeans jackets from used jeans and leather.
My choice of fabric is determined by the ecological footprint it leaves behind. I also make composite scarves and sleeveless jackets from small fabric pearls: the so-called 'QUILTY PLEASURE'. This 'QUILTY PLEASURE' line is at the same time a challenging training course for starting tailors in my studio."
